At 06:45 this morning, you will be picked up from your hotel and driven to the Floating Market of Damnoen Saduak, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) West of Bangkok. On the way you make a stop at the saltwinning fields at Samut Sakhon. Upon arrival, board a longtail boat for the final approach to the market. Explore the market itself by small boat, to get closest to the sellers. Your early departure this morning will mean you have seen the market before most of the tourists arrive. On the return to Bangkok make a stop at the impressive 127 meters high Chedi at Nakhon Pathom. This monument was built over a sacred site that dates back to the 6th century AD. From here we enjoy an excellent lunch at the stylish Jim Thompson’s
House, the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk. Since his disappearance in 1967, little has changed in the home that was the 'talk of the town' and the 'city's most celebrated social center'. Even today, the charming Thai style house continues to be a key stop for visitors to Bangkok, as the house and art collection are now officially registered as a national museum.
